Nobody's really here to read about me - it's all about the fur babies!
So, in a nutshell:
I'm Kara, a thoroughly Texas girl, which does NOT mean I rode a horse to school or grew up on a farm.
I did, however, grow up in a town with a deep love for high school football. Anyone heard of Friday Night Lights the book, movie or TV show? They're all based on one of the high schools in my hometown - with varying degrees of accuracy. Yes, many people in the town are obsessed with Mojo (Permian High School) and it's not unheard of for season tickets to be specifically mentioned (and fought over) in the will of a dearly departed fan.
Moving on, I'm now in my mid-twenties (wow) and will celebrate a third wedding anniversary with my husband, Alan, in May. We began dating my senior year of high school, kept dating when I went to college (he's 10 months younger) and got married after I graduated. He graduated the next year, was accepted to medical school, and is now in his second year. Alan loves Scrubs and insists he'll work in a place just like the show.
The only children in our home have four legs, and it's going to stay that way for at least a little while longer.
An author since literally before I could write, my parents still have notebooks full of stories (incomprehensible scribbles) I "wrote" before I knew the alphabet. I began reporting for the local newspaper in high school and returned during summers for internships.
I've crossed over to the dark side (advertising) at my current newspaper, but I'm still a news junkie. Someday, maybe when I'm a stay-at-home mom with actual human rugrats, I'll write a book.
And it will probably be about my dogs.

Kara I just read your bio and AB and I also started dating my senior year of HS and stayed together through college. We will celebrate our fourth wedding anniversary in June.
Anyway, just thought that was funny. I think if you can make it through those major changes of college, first job, etc, then you can make it through anything.
Just wanted to say hi. I saw your blog and thought it was great. We bought a pug about 6 months ago and are finding out all the ups and down (mostly ups) to having a child and a loving previous pug. Hopefully I can stay in touch as I read about your trials and tribulations.
I am also a Texas girl- but currently reside in Oklahoma (boo!). I miss living in Texas immensely too!

Hi Kara... I think you and I may have known each other in school. Check your myspace for info.

Hiya Kara
I think we've done things differently. I trained as a journalist but ended up working in the health service (UK).
More to the point, I have added something about your expected pups to DWB news. Hope all goes well.

Hi,
I couldn't find any email around, so I decided to bark :) within a comment. I am resident in the Pug Community at www.pugslife.org and I want to invite you to join, too. If you don't have the time, maybe you can just grab one of our Pugslife badges to put on your website. Thanks.
