First walk

Alan made fun of me the whole time we were on our first walk with three puppies because I brought both the video and regular camera and was filming/snapping away the whole time. I can't help it if I have cute puppies who must be on camera at all times!

Sometimes they went separate ways.

Sometimes they went the same way.

But they looked cute very which way!

Kritter stayed up front with Alan. Walks are serious business for Kritter - he allots a specified amount of pee per item so that he can cover the whole six or so blocks both coming and going. It's rough.

This is his "get this thing off me" act. He runs around throwing himself on the furniture to show us how much he detests being harnessed.

Worm free

We all went to the vet, all got a pill for tapeworm and all should be worm free in 24 hours. And when I say "we" I mean the puppies - humans can't get dog tapeworms, thankfully! Kritter probably didn't have any, but it doesn't hurt to give him the treatment anyway.

The vet says I am not a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad mother, just that the pups found a couple fleas to eat while they were outside. No biggie. So although I'm still a little traumatized, at least I'm not a bad parent.

The pups, as you can see, are not too worried about the worm genocide going on in their little bellies.

Worm butt - WARNING: gross post!

What makes a puppy's mother feel like a failure? Watching a little bitty worm crawl out of the puppy's pooper.
Yes, Peekaboo, is seems, has tapeworms.
We're going to vet the this afternoon to be sure, but when I made the appointment the tech said puppies can get tapeworms from eating fleas. She said it matter-of-factly enough to make me think it's fairly common. But still!
Peekaboo doesn't have fleas! I found one flea on her once. I squashed it and figured she'd brought it in from outside. I'd know if she was infested - she's WHITE. I could see the little thing running around on her. She's on heartworm pills and flea drops. HOW did she find enough fleas to eat to get worms??? Perhaps it's the eating of the poo.

Oh, and as to why I was watching my puppy's pooper in the first place: We were laying on the couch last night watching TV. Rascal was cuddled up to my chin and P boo was beside me with the aforementioned pooper pointing toward me. I noticed something there and looked around for a paper towel to wipe it off (we have rolls all around the house because we're still potty-training). Then the thing MOVED. I am traumatized.

Cuteoverload doesn't know cute!

I'm a little sad. I sent this picture to cuteoverload.com and they didn't post it!
How can you get cuter than this? Of course I have the momma's bias, but still, this is cute people!!!!

Peekaboo is NOT a pot bellied pig

We had a pretty day Sunday, so we attempted our first family walk. Pretty successful once the puppies figured out that forward motion was the goal.
One of our neighbors did a double take and then told us he though Peekaboo was a pot bellied pig! You can hear me talking about it in the video. Alan has said all along she looks like a little piggy and Peekaboo and I have denied it.

Vacuum pug

Here's the video that some people could see in the last post and some couldn't.
None of my dogs would stand for this!

Sleep is overrated

The husband and I have been trying to go to sleep earlier, and it's clearly cutting into my blogging time! Plus, somepuppy (Peekaboo) keeps peeing on the bed, forcing me to do a lot more laundry than I'd like.

You'll notice we've resorted to random mismatching comforters and blankets. The cow print was my bedspread when I went to college, and it's TWIN size, NOT queen, so I'm cold and overworked!

Such a lady.
I've threatened that she'll lose her priviledge to sleep in the bed with us, but neither of us can bear to hear her cry in her crate. We're such suckers.

She did make me very proud last night by presenting me with two lost teeth - a matching pair even! She lost a premolar on the upper right and the same one on the upper left. She got two little treats under her pillow this morning.

Me? Cause trouble? You must be mistaken!

It's a good thing she's cute!

Baths and cuddle buddies

I nearly broke my neck racing for the camera to get these pics.

They don't fuss about being in the bath, but they do prefer to stand on the side while being sudsed up.

"You smell clean. Weird."

Peekaboo had decided Kritter is her cuddle buddy. Kritter has no opinion on the matter.

My mom calls Kritter a cool cat. Whatever the puppies are doing, he just calmly observes.

See? She's totally using Kritter as a pillow, and he could care less.

Here's he's just annoyed that I woke him up with the flash.

Both puppies are my cuddle buddies. If I lay on this side they cuddle up to my back, but if I turn over Peekaboo lays on my neck and Rascal under my arm.

War! and Rascal update

See, the French do fight sometimes!

Rascal's leg is doing very well. The vet said that if we'd like to neuter Rascal in early February, he'd take the pins out then as well. But we want to be sure Rascal fully develops all the Frenchie male characteristics before we chop his testosterone, so we're checking to see when he'll be "all grown up."

Boo has become very useful for toy retrieval in small spaces. Click on the picture to see her new booty freckles. More and more are popping up every day!

Dallas

Emily sent me home with some presents for my babies. Peekaboo loves her pink feather collar.
"Call me posh, dahling."

I didn't get stuck in Dallas like I thought I might, but I did have fun! We went to a Hibachi grill Friday and the cooker-man did a "volcano" for us.

He kept up a Japanese-type accent all night long, but when the lights came on we noticed he was Hispanic - ha!

I don't know what look Emily is trying to do here.

Jenny's dog, Missy, is the only one who uses the treadmill!

Emily got Gracie to do it for awhile, but she wasn't terribly thrilled with it.

Gracie was very entertained with a toy looped through her collar.

Gracie and Missy snuggled with me so I wouldn't go through canine snuggle withdrawl.

I am so proud of this sweatshirt! I found it in Tennessee at Goody's - Pugs Not Drugs people!

Jenny's parents are building a house - we're standing in the door of the media room.

This is Jenny's other baby, Kaiya. She's so loyal - go near Jenny's room and she'll block you. She's a good guardian.

Alan brought the babies to the airport to pick me up. I got lots of kisses all the way home. I love my herd!

I'm very very behind on reading all your blogs, so forgive me for my late, late comments!

Peekaboo is four months old!

It's Peekaboo's four month birthday!

I gave her a test to see how well she's learning the rules of the house:

Name: Peekaboo, Boo, trouble or go outside!
Date: Playtime

1. Put these actions in the order in which they should occur: Poo, go outside, come inside
Go outside, come inside, poo

2. Which of these is NOT a puppy food item:
A. Poo
B. kibble
C. puppy treats
None of the above

3. When mom and dad say "bedtime," which of the following do they want you to do:
A. Nibble their ears
B. wrestle on the bed with Rascal
C. sleep
both A & B

4. Fill in the blank: When momma says "sit," I'm supposed to crawl up her leg to get to the treat she's holding and/or try to take Kritter and Rascal's treats away.

5. What is the appropriate response when mom and dad catch you peeing and/or pooping in the house?
Run around the house as if my furry little tail is on fire

6. What makes mom & dad very happy?
Me!

Five out of five!

I had the privilege of being the first blog Django reviewed, and we got a score of five out of five!
It was almost four of five, but Peekaboo's utter cuteness pushed us up to the top score!

Thanks Django, and thank you Alicat for doing the html for this blog!

I may spend more time here in Dallas than I planned. The forecast calls for freezing rain at the time my plane is to leave Dallas. So, Monday may be "take Kara to work day" for Emily.
Ok, we're going to actually get out of pajamas and go do something - have a great weekend everyone!

Quick pics

Just a quick post to catch me up - I've been a bad blogger and neglected to upload pics.

My parents-in-law sent me gorgeous birthday flowers - roses, tulips, daises and several things I can't identify off-hand. My MIL couldn't decide which card to send, pug or Frenchie, so she sent both. Thank you Lisa, Willow and Belle for the sparkly card!

Proof that my lap can hold three dogs despite Alan's belief that it was impossible.

The back of Peekaboo's ears. I dunno, they're just cute!

Practically a septuagenarian

I am a quarter of a century old as of 9:16 a.m. Central Standard Time today.
Ack!
What have I done that is important?

Einstein published his theory of relativity when he was 26 - I don't think something equivalent to that is brewing in my brain right now.

Helen Keller graduated from Radcliffe College with honors at 24 despite being blind and deaf. I graduated at 22 despite . . . having to wear contacts to correct my vision. She wins.

Britney Spears is 25 and she has flashed her goods to anyone with a camera, left her two kids by some other girl's baby-daddy with the nanny while she gets trashed with Paris Hilton, got married & annulled in Vegas while drunk . . .

ok, maybe I'm not doing so bad for 25! Happy my birthday everybody! And Happy Birthday Elvis - this would have been his 72nd.

Bonus blog

I'm going to see my parents in Tennessee this weekend, so I'll give you an extra bonus blog to hold you over till I get back! Keep your fingers crossed that Alan and the pups don't trash the house too terribly while I'm away!

Alan left his bike in the house for a couple days. Peekaboo kept coming up with extra spots from rubbing against the wheels.

We had a big storm one night, and I think this little butterfly injured his wings in all the wind and rain.

He recouped on our fence.

This part of the fence used to be covered in vines. One day I got so annoyed with how tangled they were that I torn them all down to start from scratch. Problem is, the puppies keep running around and tearing the new growth. I'm going to rig up something to keep them off so I can grow more vines and attract more butterflies!
