Day at the zoo
We love checking out zoos, so as part of our anniversary we spent a day at the one in Houston.
HOW does he sleep like that? I probably couldn't balance on a little log like that awake!
I want a seal so I can swim around with it and let it pull me around. I also want an otter because they are so cute. Did you know otters pick out a rock to open clamshells? They always keep up with it and can pick out their rock from a huge pile of rocks. When they are hungry, they flip on their backs with the clam on their tummy and bang bang bang the clam with the rock. I love it! The zoo had seals, but they were behind glass so I couldn't get a good shot.
An Alphie! (That's a giraffe, for non Alpha kai Omega members). This one is a baby. His momma was in their house, because it was hot, but he came out to see us.
It's a zebra horse giraffe! No, it's an okapi. It's a relative of giraffes, which you could understand better if you saw its long long tongue for eating leaves from trees.
These jaguars were napping and pestering each other in the shade.
I wish the glass was clearer, but I'm glad it was there! Two lions were napping against it in the shade of their enclosure. BIIIIIG PAWS!
After the zoo, we walked outside to Hermann Park, where we rented a paddle boat and plodded around the pond.
Baby ducks!
The rudder on our boat wasn't very reliable, so we made a few circles!
Lots of people were paddling their boats through the spray, and Alan tried to be sneaky and put us through too, but I was wearing very light khaki pants. No way Jose! Nobody wants to see my underwear.
At the end of the day, we returned home to our animals
They were a little ticked that we were gone so long, but a couple treats fixed that!

Was your anniversary on Wednesday? If so, we have the same anniversary! And we are taking the day off Friday and going to the zoo! Hope you guys had a happy day!
Well happy anniversary! I love the zoo too. We have one here in town and I really wish we could go more often. I love watching the seal feedings.
I want a zebra-giraffe-horse!! Looks like ya'll had fun...also looks like Alan's going through a beard phase again.
Loved seeing the pictures of the zoo. Lots of anniversaries in May...good month to be married. And treats fix all hurt feelings!
Looks like a great time! Happy Anniversary to you both. I bet Kritter and Gizmo are happy you are back feeling a little jealously about you visiting other 4 legged animals with out them. LOL
