I love this place

Since moving to Austin and settling in I've decided I never want to leave! I've decided I like it here...better than Dallas! I was born there, but my parents moved us to Odessa when I was just ten months old. All my life I've wished and dreamed of someday moving back to my "real" hometown. But now... My job entails quite a bit of driving and exploring the area, so I've had chances to snap pictures of the scenery.

Views from River Place subdivision and country club

Bluebonnets are everywhere - it's quite obvious why they are Texas' state flower.

Irises from our yard - they were planted under shrubs, so the beautiful bloom is totally obscured. I'm going to transplant eventually, but for now I'm just cutting them and enjoying them inside.

What do these little furballs think of the scenery?

It's nice, but they want no part of it before noon.

Austin seems like a very cool place. I've only lived in Texas (Houston) for two years but it feels like home to me! I hope the new job is going well. The pups look like they are having a good time!

you know it's illegal to pick bluebonnets, right? Don't worry I won't report you as Jaxson started eating them when I was trying to capture a nice macro picture of some.

That's an urban legend Jaxon's mom! I know because in junior high we had to do a big flower project involving picking and pressing hundreds of flowers. It's only illegal to create a traffic hazard while picking Bluebonnets, or any flower. Pick or eat away!

OMG! I grew up in West TX and never even saw a bluebonnet until I came to college. I guess I have been misinformed all these years. Thanks for clarifying things for me :-)

Such a pretty area! I went there quite a long time ago. My Uncle lived there and we went for a visit for a week.
I Love the stone work around your stove!

It's so beautiful and green. I miss green. With the snow only just melted here in Ontario everything is still brown.

Wow, Austin looks beautiful. I've never been to Dallas before, but I think I agree with you: I'd rather live where you guys are, too!

Wow, Kara, it is beautiful there--who knew?! Growing up in North Texas and going to college in West Texas gave me the impression that Texas is flat, dry, brown, ugly....but you have redeemed that impression! Thanks for sharing!

Pea green with envy over here!!! The trees and hills are just gorgeous!

What's the mosquito threat level out there?

The scenic pictures look great! The weather looks very attractive...I take it you don't miss the rain, thunder, humid, wet, etc. of Houston and Galveston? Looks like a great place to have weekend fishing and camping trips. We are jealous...but it's still Texas (we still miss California).
