We still need your prayers

At Gizmo's second chemo treatment on Friday the vet found another lump in the same place as the original one. That means several things: It's an aggressive cancer, because it grew while he was on chemo; that the surgery to remove the first lump didn't get all the cancer; and that we may need to consider more/different treatment options.
The vet and I didn't talk much about the other options because he hadn't yet received the extra tests we ordered on the removed lump. Once he gets them, he'll know more about what we are dealing with and what we can do about it. He did say, though, that he doesn't recommend radiation because it is so focused on one area that we could end up putting Gizmo through the discomfort and be totally missing more cancer somewhere else.
We're going back this Friday to see how the lump responded to the second treatment, which was a different drug than the first.

Meanwhile, Gizmo is totally unaware of anything wrong. He and Kritter are running around getting into things like always.
Perfect example: After I accidentally dumped a ton of powered sugar on the floor, Kritter and the Moe found some I missed during cleanup. They were caught red-handed. Well, actually, white-nosed.
These are either the faces of sugar-thieving pugs, or I need to search their beds for "recreational substances" ala Kate Moss.

Kritter: "I know nothing of this sugar of which you speak."

Gizmo knows he can get away with anything by pulling his ears back and making puppy eyes.

But he doesn't realize you can totally see the guilt in those big pug peepers.

I've got a nasty nasty virus, so for the past two days I've been pug snuggling and tweaking the blog. I went back to "Flat Nosed Pups" because I don't want the Frenchie to feel out of place when we get her. Plus, the pugs never did any reporting, so it didn't make much sense. I also changed the template to fix that sidebar sliding down to the bottom thing. I do plan on making a whole brand-spanking new site, but that involves me learning how to do code - or breaking down and paying someone else to do it for me. I think I left a comment for everyone who reads this regularly about the URL change, but if you think someone you know and love is unaware, please let them know they can now find us at www.flatnosedpups.com.

We had a cancer lump removed from our Gidget this past April and have been checking her often for more....I'm so sorry to hear that there is another. Please know that my prayers are with you ... chin up, these puggies of ours are tougher than they look! I loved the sugar covered faces in the pics, how adorable...and that look of "I didn't do it" was great!

We will keep you all in our prayers. Pugs are the greatest! They say so much with those eyes. "What sugar?" Give the pug wonders a big old kiss from BonnieBoo and her mom.

LOL....try as they might to deny it as pugs usually do, the evidence is definitely overwhelming in their guilty favor. Great caught in the act pics!

Surely will continue to keep Gizmo in my wellpuggy prayers.

Those pictures made me laugh. They are too funny and sweet and just don't know how cute they are. I hope you all getting well over there! The beauty of those puggies is they don't know what's going on so they can't get depressed like the humans...

Hi Kara - This is Norman's owner. Thanks for the message you left Norman about his cancer. It did help my mind a bit.

Have you consulted a holistic Vet yet? Diet is an important thing to consider when you have a dog with cancer. Sugar and carbs feed cancer, and dog food is mostly carbs. I recommend talking to a holistic Vet asap. There are also some great supplements to help with their immune systems. Transfer Factor Plus is a good one I read about on the Internet, and my Vet prescribed. Please though, make sure you don't make any changes until consulting a holistic Vet, because sometimes we can do more harm than good.

My prayers are with your little man!
