Gizmo is doing well after surgery - thank you for all your thoughts and prayers!I hope I didn't worry anybody by not updating right away - we've been really busy!
Alan has a small break from school after the pulmonary test last week. We're visiting his parents for a few days and then he begins studying gastrointestinal stuff. Fun fun!
Moe didn't seem to be bothered too badly by the surgery. I was so nervous about leaving him at the vet's overnight because he's so skiddish of strangers. The vet techs were very sweet and were glad to give me reports when I called.
He has big bruises, which the vet expected, that begin around the incision in his groin and extend to his tummy and legs. They gave us pain meds and said to give as needed, so I think we're going to continue those until the bruises go down a lot more. He doesn't act drugged up or even sleepier than normal, so keeping him quiet has been a challenge. We're supposed to make sure he takes it really easy for about three weeks, but he doesn't know that and goes on his merry little way barking at people and running around.
When the vet gets the report back from the lab we'll know whether he'll have radiation therapy or not. Basically if the tumor had clean edges we will do radiation, if not we won't. Clean edges means it was contained to one spot and probably didn't spread, so the radiation would be to make sure and kill any little cancer cells that may remain. But, if the tumor wasn't well defined it's probable that it spread, so radiation wouldn't be of much good because it is such a targeted treatment.
The most important thing is that Moe doesn't seem to be in pain and continues to act like himself. I would say normal, but that word really doesn't apply to him - he's my weird little baby!

I'm glad to hear that he isn't feeling any pain - what a trooper! We will be crossing our fingers and paws that the results are positive from the vet.
He is a trooper for sure. I am hopeing this worked and he can get the radiation. I love seeing his pictures.
