Birthday boy

Sunday was Gizmo's third birthday. I made a cake and treats from Three Dog Bakery's cookbook. I've seen other pug parents baking for their babies, so monkey (me) see, monkey do. Reading all ya'll's pug blogs is just making my pug obsession worse!!!

The cake is made of water, bananas, vanilla, honey, whole-wheat flour and baking powder, and the icing is cream cheese, vanilla and a little coloring. I just used a plastic baggie with the tip cut off to decorate, so it's not exactly a professional effort.

Alan refused to sing to Gizmo with me - but he did dig the party hats out from the back of the pantry.

Don't they look thrilled?

We probably ruined years of training by doing this!

We let them lick the icing and then I cut pieces. Kritter immediately grabbed his off the plate and took it under the table.

Gizmo had to lick it a little before taking it to the chair seat.

They both cleaned up their mess.

I tasted the treats - not something I plan to eat again. I like the cookbook because it doesn't call for a bunch of weird ingredients - mostly just stuff you have around the house anyway.
The treat are made of natural peanut butter, whole-wheat flour, baking powder and skim milk. Very easy. I cut mine into little heart shapes, which yielded almost 200 treats! The recipe says it makes 30 large bones, so they must mean for the bones to be HUGE!

Now for the Gizmo update. We were supposed to go back for a checkup in two weeks, but I found another lump Thursday and took him to the oncologist Friday. He recommended we try another, more aggressive surgery. I'm taking Moe tomorrow at 8 a.m. and will pick him up in the afternoon. Rather than removing the lump and some tissue around it, they'll remove all the lymph nodes in a wider circumference. I'm hoping for the best, of course, and I feel good about the specialist performing the operation. Our regular vet did a fine job with the first surgery, but I'm hoping the specialist will be able to get what perhaps our vet missed. Please keep Gizmo in your prayers, and thank you so much for your support through all this!!!

Ok, you might be a little crazy...add that to your list...you are no longer allowed to make fun of Gracie's toenails.

I hope that Gizmo is doing well and getting plenty of rest after surgery.

Love you all!

Wanted to let you know Bandit and Paisley blog has switched to papugpack.blogspot.com , but because of blogger beta acting up, most of the time pugsalicious is still listed.

Keeping Gizmo is my well puggy thoughts and prayers.
