Afternoon seaside

Today we met Denny, Charlie, Alfie and their people for a play date on the beach.

They recently moved near here from the UK and adopted Alfie, a distinguished older pug who had the misfortune to spend a couple months out by himself in the Texas heat.

Thankfully a good rescue group found him and now he's enjoying the easy life all pugs are entitled to live. I read their blog, so I was so excited to meet them!

Denny and Charlie are both fun loving puggers and I expect they slept the rest of the day after all the running and playing.

From their pictures I thought they'd be about Kritter's size, 29 pounds, but it turns out Kritter would be a Goliath in England! Denny and Charlie are about 22 pounds and Richard says that's pretty average for an Englishpug. What do all your pugsters weigh? The vet has never said Kritter needs to lose weight, so I guess he's just a Yao Ming-type pug!

Rascal took right to the beach - especially the sand! Silly Frenchie was chowing down on it, so he got carried most of the day. Here he is at the "summit" of a sand dune.

I sat in the back with the boys on the way home. Kritter, of course, vaulted the seat and took his place up front.

The boys got a bath and took a long nap when we got home. I was worried Rascal would get cold, so I piled a blanket on the couch for him to snuggle in.

If we get down on the ground with Rascal, he plays with us the way he plays with a dog - lunging at us with those little puppy teeth. Usually he gnaws harmlessly, but tonight he caught Alan's chin and drew blood! What a savage!

It was a great time for Denny and Charlie and Alfie... they slept all the wa back to Seabrook and then seemed to disappear onto their donut beds until it was dinner time. They loved every minute of it. And the smell of wet Pug in the car is delightful! :-0

I am working on a video of the meetup today... should have it uploaded sometime this evening.

The boys say they want to do it again! I don't blame them.

Our pug weighs about 28 lbs. The vet would like him to loose a few pounds but with a 20 month old constantly sharing his meals, that is certainly going to be a challenge. I don't think he looks heavy, just solid! I should try to get down to Galveston with him sometime...it would be so fun to see how he'd do on the beach now that the Texas weather has cooled off a bit.

Rascal - you are so mean to draw blood like that! What kind of thanks is that for getting to go to the beach?

PS. Nappy weighs 20.5lbs right now but for a while he weighed almost 23 lbs and he looked heavy and the vet said he needed to lose a couple lbs. I think it really depends on pug and I wouldn't worry about it if he has always been a bog boy.
