Door greeters

My boys, just chillin'.

Paula reminded me that I didn't say anything about how the boys reacted to all the trick-or-treaters. When the bell rang, Rascal ran to the door - Kritter was already there. He spent the night camped out on the back of the couch right by the door. That's his place because he can see the street and monitor our (his) property. I'd put one of our baby gates in the doorway on the outside so I didn't have to worry about the boys running out. Kritter went through a run-out-the door-phase when he was a teenager. He was lightning fast - crack the door and he's gone. An once he was out he was impossible to catch - he'd always stay just out of reach. One night he got all the way down the block - he got a whoopin' for scaring me so bad and making me cry. Thankfully he stopped running after that, but I figured costumed children would be too big a temptation for him to resist. Plus, I didn't want Rascal to be stepped on.
That baby gate deeply distressed Kritter. He just couldn't understand why I would keep him away from all these people coming to the house to see him. Once he attempted to launch himself over the gate from the corner of the couch into the arms of his adoring fans, but I caught him in mid-air.

I wish I had a video of it so you could hear the noises he was making - but I'm sure you've heard it from your little puggies. Maybe you took too long with their food, or you stopped petting them long enough to change the channel, or you attempted to give them a bath. It's a sound that conveys perfectly that you are absolutely breaking their little heart. Kritter uses that noise to hurry us up if we're a little slow in preparing his bite from our dinner plates.

Oh - and this I don't have a picture of either, but I'm working on it. Rascal has discovered the concept of an aerial attack. Here's how it goes: Rascal will ask to be picked up onto the couch - poor baby tries and tries to jump but he's too small. Then he waits on the edge of the seat until Kritter walks by and...bombs away! Rascal leaps onto Kritter's back, usually falling right off, but looking pretty satisfied nonetheless. It looks a little like bullriding, but Rascals record is about 1.5 seconds instead of eight.

Rascal discovered pollen today - our hibiscus plants are still blooming.
When he's playing or chewing on something he likes to roll around with with it. In the living room he rolls under and through and between the legs of our coffee table.
Yummy Kong.
Thank you Leah & family for the gift and card in remembrance of Gizmo! I'd had several crying spells just before this arrived, and it just made my day that much better. Plus the chocolate sundae candle smells SO good.

Do you always have your camera in hand?
