We got Gizmo's ashes back today. When the vet called I started crying all over again - so I think my record so far is two days without tears. But it is getting better every day.I'll never quit being heartbroken that Moe didn't have more time, but I am content that he was happy and grateful that he didn't have a long, slow decline.
The hardest times, funny enough, are when I'm getting ready in the morning, especially showering. He got up with me, napped in his bed beside the tub, then walked into the hall and watched as I dried my hair - he didn't like the hairdryer. I miss my puggy escort - I want to look under the desk right now and see him curled up on his pillow in the "Moe cave."
Kritter is still being a little mopey and clingy. He needs a friend.
Several days ago I began making some inquiries about Frenchie breeders & rescue groups. French bulldogs are relatively rare, have small litters and often require C-sections. I expected it would take months to find a good breeder - with puppies - in the color I particularly love.
At first it looked like that would be the case...but then one of the highly recommended breeders e-mailed me back. We're going to see her this weekend, and it's likely we'll come back with a Frenchie.
It's only been about two weeks since we lost Moe, but I'm feeling really good about (probably) getting a puppy. We've been planning it for a long time, and it appears we've found an awesome breeder with (quite possibly) the perfect puppy for us.
So - I think that's a sign we're healing.

my prayers go out to you guys. I can't even imagine. ((hugs))
Good luck and I hope you find the absolute PERFECT frenchie to join your family.
Kritter really needs a furry friend, so I think it's a great idea. You always wanted to bring a little girl Frenchie home, so it's meant to be. Perhaps she is being sent to you for a reason..to help your heart heal. You'll never forget, but you can heal! God bless!
I am so happy for you guys that you might find that perfect Frenchie. They are just adorable, and Kritter will love being a "mama" to a little puppy! Good luck!
That is fun that you had a layover in Denver, and you are right--it is pretty flat, especially at the airport! We are right at the juncture where the mountains and plains meet, so just west of us are high mountains and to the east is flat plains.
I knew who Lori and Brandon were but I am not sure if I ever met them, but my husband was a Pike and knew Brandon. We have a friend here (Anna) who was a Kai-O as well--guess she picked them because they are Bronco colors! We actually know several people who were in club with you!
My Woman loves Frenchies too. I think it's a good idea to get Kritter a new companion as soon as possible. No one will ever replace Moe in his heart either, but having another friend around might help him feel better sooner.
I agree with Goodboy Norman - no one or nothing will ever replace Moe, a new little Frenchie may just help you to feel healing during this time. I think it's exciting that you might be getting a puppy this weekend!
You guys are always in our thoughts and prayers.
I know that you have been thinking of getting a Frenchie for some time now....this sounds like the perfect opportunity. Moe will always be with you and in your heart. and when you are showering Moe is there in his bed you just can see him...when you look under the desk..moe is there too....He may have crossed the rainbow bridge but he left great memories and his spirit behind for you remember.
Kritter will be so happy having a sibling!
Oh cute ... a Frenchie girlfriend for Critter!
I'm glad you guys are doing okay. I know exactly what you mean about missing them in the morning. I always have puggy supervisors while getting ready in the morning and one of the hardest parts is that missing morning ritual.
The Frenchie sounds like a great idea. We debated over hte timing of getting another dog after we lost Josie but you will know if it feels right. Maggie will never replace Josie, but it sure helped fill the whole in your heart and Kritter's heart.
A FRENCHIEEEE!!! AAAA!!!! I LOVE them too. Cant wait to hear about your weekend. Nothing can replace Moe but a little Frenchie puppy will certainly help with the hole in your heart. Are you going to keep Gizmo's ashes or sprinkle them somewhere?
Kara- if you wouldnt mind (and its ok if you do mind) I'd love your mailing address. Just email me!
I agree with everyone else...nothing will replace the little Moe man and I know you all miss him so much. A new baby in the house would be nice for all of y'all. I hope this weekend brings a new little one to your home!
