Kritter picked a brother!

WARNING: This blog contains an exorbitant, excessive and truly ridiculous number of cute puppy pictures, which may cause the reader to experience an irresistible urge to purchase a puppy. Author is not responsible for any financial repercussions, stained carpet, puppy breath or damaged shoes such a purchase may cause!

Alan, Kritter and I are very excited to announce our adoption of a male French Bulldog today!

His name is Rascal, and Kritter picked him out!
Mrs. Linda McKee of McKee's Regal Creations and Kennels in Pleasanton, Tx was among the people recommended by several owners and breeders who responded to my online requests for help in locating a good breeder.

She has litters on the ground and lives only four hours from us, so we drove to see her this weekend. Kritter was ecstatic, as you can see! (He always sleeps in the car)

We actually expected to get an older boy from her - she has some retirees and dogs who didn't work out for show available. Go here to see them. From the description and photos (she spent a lot of time on her dial up connection to e-mail me lots of pictures) Alan and I were especially interested in Jacques and Samson.

Jacques is on the left, and couldn't be shown because one of his testicles never dropped and he had to be neutered. Alan really wanted to call him "Uno" for that reason!
Samson, on the right, is a big boy and gorgeous too, but didn't have a show career because his left ear never stood up.

Both of these boys were wonderful, and we would have taken them home in an instant. We introduced them to Kritter in Linda's backyard. We didn't expect Kritter to be excited and start playing right away because 1) he was on new turf and had to check out all the smells and 2) he's never immediately begun to play with any dog when we go to meetups at the dog park. They were all nice to each other, and I got out my "Frenchie binder" with all my notes and asked Linda all my questions.

And then, of course, I had to see the puppies. Kritter has always had a thing for puppies, so it was no surprise when his tail started going wild.

He loves new puppy smell!
Three puppies were "in the running." Actually I would have taken all of them home, but Linda is keeping some for show. Two of my favorites were sisters, one black brindle and the other fawn brindle.

And then there was Rascal, above, also a fawn brindle. Days earlier when Linda sent me all the pictures I saw his and said "Oh, he's the one." (Later Alan and I got more interested in the older boys because they were already potty-trained, etc.)

During one of my phone calls with Linda she said Frenchie males tended to be more lovey dovey, while females are often more headstrong and independent. I wanted a lover, so we focused on the males.

Once we got there I REALLY wanted to get both Rascal and the black brindle girl. I loved the fawn brindle girl as well, but if we were going to get two I wanted them to be different colors.

Check out that "red" baby by my left hand! That's one Linda plans to show off in the ring. While I was covered in puppies, Kritter and Rascal went off the side together and started playing together. Before we went to see Linda, we said we'd let Kritter pick out his new sibling, so it seemed he heard us and wanted to make his wishes clear!

Rascal picked us too. I'm making a goofy face here because Rascal had braved the puppy mob to give me kisses. He also carried away my sunglasses and camera case - and he even humped my leg! Alan said that was Rascal's way of saying "Mine, mine, mine!" (like the seagulls on Finding Nemo).

We stayed at a hotel in San Angelo Friday night and agonized over whether we could get two puppies, Rascal and the black brindle girl, above. We decided against it only because we'll probably move to Austin this summer, so we'll need every extra penny for a house, moving, etc. I still might drive up there and pick her up one of these days!
Ok, time for a million pics!

Off to my new house!
Ok, tomorrow I will post pictures of the homegoing and the fun we had once we got there!

Absolutely wonderful! That would have been a hard decision to make. When we got Zoey her brother was available too and hubby did say...how about two? I had saved for her and it would have been strech to buy him too...but I have wondered what happened to him!

We are VERY happy for you...watch out Rascal may live up to his name! lol Give us his stats..age, etc. They look fairly big for I'm guessing more like 12 weeks or more?
